Donbass Warlords: Behind The Polished Public Images

With Ukraine getting a lion’s share of attention in the worldwide media these days, there seems to be no lack of coverage of general aspects of the Donbass conflict, however controversial the opinions may be. On the other hand, it is rather obvious that as important topic as key figures inside the various factions actually fighting “on the ground” on both sides of the conflict is a topic reserved for specialist discussions, as it is usually assumed that the general public rarely shows interest in such matters. Nevertheless, we at RicksI think that this is not a subject that should be easily overlooked by anyone seeking to make sense of the whole situation in Ukraine, and therefore assembled a brief study on the public images carefully crafted by assumed Russian PR specialists (judging from style of the PR campaings, as explained below) for the warlords of People’s Republic of Donbass and their Ukranian counterparts, aimed at exposing the shocking difference between these polished images and the real people behind them.
